What to buy?

Goods sold is not a staple, because their target buyers are the employees of the office during rest hours of work. so that the goods sold are tend to entertainment  or related to their hobby.

In spite of the goods in pasar kaget BNI not as much as pasar kaget juanda, the various types of  goods are almost the same with pasar kaget Juanda.There are handphones, clothes, books, sandals, foods, toys, household-wares, accessories for man and woman, and so on.

 

What’s the price?

  • Clothing Rp.20.000 – Rp.70.000,-
  • Belts Rp.25.000 – Rp.30.000,-
  • Shoes Rp.50.000++
  • Accessories for woman Rp.10.000 – Rp.100.000++
  • Foods Rp.2000 – Rp.20.000,-

When?

Pasar Kaget BNI is only held once a week, on Friday from 9am until 1 pm.

Where?

Pasar Kaget BNI is located along the road of BNI 46 – Dukuh Atas

How to get there?

If you bring your own vehicle you should park your vehicle in front of Sudirman Park or Muamalat Bank in Dukuh Atas, then you can walk as far as 30-50m. If you want to use public transportation you can use Trans Jakarta and then stoped at Dukuh Atas station. In addition there are several buses also pass through this route, such as:

  • PATAS AC 70 (Tn. Abang – Kp. Rambutan)
  • PPD AC 10 (Kp. Rambutan – Dukuh Atas)
  • PPD AC 17 (Bekasi – Dukuh Atas)
  • Kopaja 19 (Tanah Abang – Kb. Ragunan)

Tips

  • Pasar Baru is not as same as mall. Pasar baru is a semi-modern shopping market without an AC. If you are not accustomed with the weather or the sun, you should bring a small fan or wear a hat to protected your head from the sun. this will prevent you from headaches.
  • Just like the other markets, you can do bargain with the seller in this market. but the price drop is not much, only about Rp.5.000,-. Some trader have set their fixed prices, which means it can not be negotiable.

Pasar Ciracas

What to buy?
A little bit different with Pasar kaget, Pasar Ciracas is a traditional market that is replanted with the construction of a new building and parking area which large enough to accommodate the vehicles coming. Pasar Ciracas provide a variety of needs start from the primary needs to the third such as clothing, stationary, bags. Supplies of food provided is very complete from vegetables and fresh meats, seasoning blends and instant, eggs, soy sauce, cooking oil, canned food, snacks, etc.

What to do?

Buying or shopping staple

When?

Pasar Ciracas is open everyday at 7am until 5.30 pm.

Where?

located at Jl. Raya Ciracas, East Jakarta 13740

How to get there?

You can drive a car but for saving your time it will be faster and easier if you ride a motorcycle to this place because there always a traffic jam around the market. Big transportation such as bus is not pass through this market. its only a small public transportation called “angkot” number 14 and 12.

Tips

  • Do bargain to the trader
  • Wear a sandals and casual clothes because the air inside the market is quite hot
  • Bring cash money because is hard to find ATM inside the market
  • Provide a small change
  • Bring tissue because there are no tissue in the toilet

Pasar Kaget Juanda

What to bring?

Of course money, but here no need to carry large amounts of money, except you intend to buy. Simply 50.000 rupiah to eat snacks, but if you plan on shopping for clothes or other supplies you need at least 150.000 rupiah into your pocket.

What to buy?

Pasar Juanda is one of  the longest and most complete market that you can meet. Variety of different foods and sundries can be found there. Such as clothing, shoes, sunglasses, gadgets, gadget accessories, ornamental plants, picture frames, toys, ornaments, jade rings, food, snacks, ornamental fish, kitchen appliances, and much more.

What to do?

Sports | Breakfast | Shopping | Looking around

When?

Pasar Kaget Juanda is only held once a week. in other words this is a weekly market, which only open in Sunday morning at 6am to 12pm.

Where?
Pasar kaget Juanda located in Jl. Juanda, Depok. Alternate the road about 2km which connected Depok with Cibubur.

How to get there?

Ride a motorcycle, a bicycle or use a public transportation is the best way to come. Driving a car will only get you stuck in the middle of traffic jams and makes you complicates to shop.

if you come by a motorcycle and would like to walk down this market, you can put your motorcycle in parking area by paying Rp.2000,- thereafter.

Tips

  • Use a casual clothes such as pants and T-shirt so that you will more comfortable to walk down the market.
  • Do bargain with the trader.
  • Be aware with your children if you bring a child and also your belongings because of the crowd.

Brief History

Trade area, based in Jalan Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, was established in 1820, and is the oldest shopping center in Jakarta. Pasar Baru was first known by the name of Passer Baroe when Jakarta was called Batavia. People who shop at Passer Baroe were the Dutch who lived in Rijswijk (now has known as Jalan Veteran). The shops in it was built with Chinese and European architectural styles.
Nowadays, Pasar Baru is a textile shopping center with a touch of indian culture are quite dominant. many shops selling clothes from India and sells a variety of fabrics with an indian pattern or style. so no wonder if later on you will find many shops textiles with India names.

What to buy?

Pasar baru is the right shopping center where you can find ancient paper money, textiles, second and new cameras – from analog to digital, watch store, glasses, jewelery shops, shoes. In Metro Atom Plaza which still in Pasar Baru area you can also find a variety of second-hand clothing with the lower price and also good conditions.

What to do?

Shopping | Buying and selling cameras and lenses | Hunting vintage clothing | looking for fabric materials.

Pasar baru is a shopping center that open on Monday-Saturday from 9am to 5pm

What Is It About?

This is where you can find what do Indonesian markets look like and what you can buy at each market. In Jakarta we call it pasar, refers to traditional one, where you can buy vegies, meats, fruits, seasoning, household-wares, cloths, toys, stationary, etc. Yes there is a lot to find there and yet the price is cheap. Much or less pasar kaget is just another version of pasar. Kaget or in English, shock, literally describe the market itself, because the market held unannounced or held in unusual place, such as empty field and streets. There are various type of goods, most are clothing/footwear, foods (traditional or non-traditional), toys, bags, gadget accessories ,electronics, home accessories, ornamental plants, and many more..
